Kaduna Senator Katung Condemns Killing of Police Officers
Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has condemned the killing of two gallant police officers at their duty post in Zonkwa Police Station, Zango Kataf, Kaduna State.
According to reports, suspected bandits invaded the Zonkwa Police Division, shooting sporadically and killing two officers on duty. The attackers allegedly tried to break into the detention room to free detained gang members but met strong resistance from the police.
Katung Describes Attack as Barbaric
In a statement personally signed by Senator Katung, he expressed deep sadness over the tragedy. He described the incident as wicked, barbaric, and reprehensible. Moreover, he said the assault on officers who dedicate their lives to protecting others was both shocking and unacceptable.
He stated, “The most disturbing part is the direct attack on the lives of police personnel, who continue to serve under harsh and dangerous conditions. Their sacrifice deserves recognition and respect.”

Senator Katung urged security agencies to use all available resources to arrest the perpetrators. He said justice must be served swiftly and without compromise.
“My deepest condolences go to the families of the deceased officers and to the entire Police Force,” he said. “May God grant the fallen heroes eternal rest and give their families the strength to bear this loss.”
Furthermore, the lawmaker appealed to residents of Zonkwa and nearby communities to remain calm and vigilant. He encouraged them to support ongoing investigations and cooperate with law enforcement.
“The people of Zonkwa should stay alert and work closely with the police to identify those responsible,” Katung added.
He reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for improved security in Kaduna South and across Nigeria. According to him, protecting frontline officers should be a national priority, as they face enormous risks while serving the nation.
