The Defence Minister, Badaru Abubakar, on Tuesday held a strategic security meeting with Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa and the Service Chiefs to assess Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to address insecurity. The high-level operational briefing took place in Abuja at the minister’s office and focused primarily on the northern region.
According to a statement by the minister’s media aide, Mati Ali, the session provided the minister with detailed insights into current security operations, challenges on the ground, and strategies employed by the military to tackle insurgency, banditry, and communal unrest.
Defence Minister briefs Service Chiefs on critical developments in the North-East, North-West, North Central, Plateau, and South-East. These regions continue to face attacks from Boko Haram insurgents, kidnappers, and violent criminal groups.
The minister and military leadership discussed ways to enhance military operations, improve intelligence-sharing, strengthen cooperation among security agencies, and allocate resources more effectively to restore peace.
Abubakar, who previously visited several of the conflict-affected regions, received first-hand updates from field operations. He reiterated his commitment to equipping the Armed Forces with modern tools and robust policy backing.
“We are determined to support our gallant troops with the necessary tools and policies needed to win the fight against insecurity and ensure that every Nigerian lives in safety and dignity,” he declared.
He emphasized a shift toward intelligence-led strategies and community-based security solutions for long-term impact.
The minister also confirmed President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering support for the military and ongoing collaboration to protect lives and property across Nigeria.
