President Bola Tinubu has approved the full Super Falcons allowances and match bonuses for Nigeria’s final match against Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Shehu Dikko, the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, shared this news on Thursday. He spoke to reporters in Abuja. Dikko confirmed that all entitlements, including those for the final match on July 26, were disbursed for immediate payment to players, coaches, and officials.
Dikko explained that the policy reflects Tinubu’s strong commitment to improving Nigerian athletes’ welfare. This policy will ensure timely payments without delays, marking a positive shift from past practices.
This reform benefits not only the Super Falcons allowances but also Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress. The team is preparing for their 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket campaign in Côte d’Ivoire. They will also receive increased allowances and bonuses.
Dikko added that this approach sets a new standard for Nigerian sports administration. It is based on dignity, trust, and shared prosperity. He believes future generations will appreciate Tinubu’s reforms in the sector.
“This is the sports administration we aim for,” Dikko said. “It’s one built on integrity.” He emphasized that these changes will restore confidence in Nigerian sports. Athletes will now receive their due rewards without unnecessary delays.
In conclusion, Tinubu’s approval of the full Super Falcons allowances marks a major step in boosting the morale and welfare of Nigerian athletes competing globally.
