The Lagos State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a driver accused of killing realtor Yinka Agboola during a dispute over parking at Royal Pine Estate, located on Orchid Road in the Lekki area of Lagos. The incident has left the community shaken, as police investigate the circumstances leading to the tragic event.
Eyewitnesses reported that the confrontation began when Agboola asked the driver to move his vehicle, which was blocking the road. He offered an alternative parking spot, but the driver reportedly became hostile and refused. The situation escalated quickly, with the driver entering his vehicle and driving off in a threatening manner.
Realtor Dies After Being Hit by Suspect’s Vehicle
During the incident, Agboola, 36, attempted to restrain the driver, but the suspect sped off with Agboola clinging to the steering wheel. Tragically, Agboola was knocked against a pavement when the driver accelerated, leaving him seriously injured. Despite efforts to revive him, Agboola passed away two days later while in a coma at an undisclosed hospital.
The Lagos police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident and the subsequent death of Agboola. Adebisi stated that the vehicle involved in the crime had been traced to the suspect’s residence and was recovered by the police. However, the driver remains at large, and efforts to locate him are ongoing.
Footage Captures the Incident
CCTV footage of the incident shows a white Mercedes-Benz reversing dangerously in an attempt to hit a group of people. Another video captures the moment Agboola was struck as the vehicle sped off. The footage has been crucial in identifying the suspect’s vehicle, which is now in police custody.
Adebisi confirmed that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, as the police work to track down the suspect. She urged the public to assist in providing information that could help locate the driver.
