NSCDC Deploys 1,531 Officers for Tinubu’s Visit to Anambra

May 7, 2025

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,531 officers to Anambra State to ensure tight security during President Bola Tinubu’s visit scheduled for Thursday. This deployment aims to secure critical infrastructure and maintain public safety across the state.

Olatunde Maku, the Anambra State NSCDC Commandant, confirmed the deployment after a strategic meeting with senior officers, area commanders, and unit heads at the state headquarters in Awka. He emphasized that the deployment covers national, state, and local government facilities, including sensitive public areas.

The NSCDC has drawn additional officers from neighboring states like Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Delta to support the local team. Maku explained that collaboration with other security agencies will enhance the operation’s success and ensure adequate coverage.

As part of the security plan, NSCDC teams have launched covert surveillance, intensified joint operations, and conducted raids on criminal hideouts. Patrols across Anambra have increased to build public confidence and deter threats during the high-profile visit.

The security detail includes coverage of airports, bridges, parks, government buildings, markets, power stations, telecom facilities, and leisure centers like Solution Fun City. Officers will arrive at these sites before the visit and remain in place throughout and after the President’s departure.

“Our personnel will secure all key locations before, during, and after the visit. We’ve positioned them to cover every critical point,” Maku said.

He added that NSCDC officers will form part of the human shield protecting President Tinubu’s convoy. They will also manage crowd behavior and ensure the motorcade moves freely on designated routes. Teams will oversee access control at sensitive locations to prevent unauthorized entry.

Maku reminded officers to remain respectful, alert, and cooperative throughout the assignment. He encouraged them to work professionally with other security units to deliver a smooth and incident-free visit.

He also urged the public to support the operation by staying peaceful and obeying the instructions of security personnel. “Let’s work together to make the President’s visit a success,” he said.

The NSCDC’s strong presence reaffirms its commitment to national security. By coordinating with other forces, the corps ensures that presidential movements and state-level events occur safely and without disruption.
